The last sentence was punctuated by a slight jab of the knife into Anita’s skin. This man was a fool to even try to interrogate her. Marcus must have read the resolve and humor in her eyes, because at that second he dove the dagger straight down into her gut, stopping only when the blade met stone. 

Anita grunted. She had been shot, stabbed, bitten, scratched, staked, and nearly raped. This might as well be foreplay. And there was a part of her mind that accepted it as such. Ever since she had paired with Richard, the local werewolf Alpha, the line between violence and sex was sooo brittle. Reina began taking steps toward the scene and yet had no idea she had even moved.
